Ray Williams is an Advisor to Listen Communications Ltd on A & R, music publishing and financing. He is a music producer and publisher but started as a press agent to the likes of Sonny & Cher, The Kinks and Cream.
In 1967, he discovered Elton John and introduced him to lyricist Bernie Taupin, a seminal combination that still continues, and Ray went on to manage Elton’s first five albums. He also launched and managed Stealers Wheel (Gerry Rafferty), Jeff Lynne (Idle Race and ELO) and The Blues Band.
Since 1984, Ray has been one of Europe’s leading film and television music supervisors/producers. He has supervised the music for over 70 films and television series including Absolute Beginners, Naked Lunch, Saving Grace, and Bernardo Bertolucci's The Sheltering Sky and The Last Emperor which featured a second seminal combination of Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne and Cong Su and collected the Academy Award, Golden Globe, Grammy and the L.A. Film Critics’ Award for best original score.
