Andrew is a Non Executive Director of the Listen Media Campaign Co UK Ltd. He started his professional career as a fashion/advertising photographer, co-founded the Paris conceptual photography gallery ‘Urbi et Orbi’ and a design agency 'Pourriture Noble'. He then developed several Russian-language publishing projects in Moscow and shortly after the financial crisis of August 1998, founded Afisha, an entertainment and listings magazine which became the cultural touchstone of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Afisha was quickly followed by successful magazines and their online analogs, including Bolshoi Gorod, and MIR, and the publishing house was sold to the Russian media group ProfMedia in 2005 for $30m. In 2006, Paulson founded the online media company SUP which now consists of LiveJournal (the principal blogging platform/social network in Russia with significant market share in the US), Championat (the largest sports site in Russia), Gazeta (the largest news site in Russia); and +SOL, the second largest online sales house in Russia. Paulson was CEO of both SUP in Moscow and San Francisco-based LiveJournal, Inc., which SUP acquired in 2007. Paulson is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SUP. Afisha is still one of only a very few significant indigenous brands in any sector created in Russia since Perestroika and, to this day, Afisha Publishing House sets the high water mark for independent journalism in Russia. Both Afisha and SUP are major media players in the Russian market, while remaining independent of the influence of external forces, either commercial or governmental.
